A charity spring ball organised by the team at Amberley Hall, the Lynn-based care home, has raised £1,800 for its chosen charities, the Alzheimer’s Society and Cystic Fibrosis.
Residents had initially come up with the idea to auction off a blanket they had collectively knitted at the home, but then the idea developed into holding an event in a local hall and inviting friends of the home along. However, the home’s hospitality services manager, Keith Barnes, didn’t want to stop there.
He suggested making it a grand event, open to all the team across the Hallmark Care Homes group, of which Amberley Hall is a member, and to the public.
The event at the Duke’s head Hotel in Lynn was a huge success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, with the generous guests taking part in the auction to bid on a whole host of gifts, including the blanket that started it all and a guided tour around the House of Commons.
Mr Barnes said: “The night was fantastic. Everyone had such a good time and was so generous.
“We have raised an absolutely wonderful £1,800 and money is still coming in each day. I want to thank everyone who attended and made the evening such a success.”
