Members of a Swaffham stitching group have used their skills to raise more than £1,000 for a local charity.

The Iceni Stitchers made a number of items for a fundraising draw, held at the town’s Assembly Rooms, in aid of the Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice Support.

First prize was a handmade quilt by Chris Sparrow, second prize was a fabric bag made by Margaret Routledge and a patchwork cushion by Jane Atkins was the third prize.

A total of 925 draw tickets were sold, raising a bumper £1,025 for the Swaffham-based charity.

On behalf of the charity, Leigh Taylor and Rob Young thanked the group for their donation and Iceni Stitchers’ chairman Leah Spencer thanked members for promoting the draw so enthusiastically.

She also thanked Christine Wright for her efforts in selling tickets and ensuring the success of the project.

She added: “Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice Support is greatly appreciated within the local community.

“You are blessed if you don’t need to use its services, and you’re blessed if you do.”
