A group for people with learning disabilities and their families is launching an appeal to raise £10,000 to buy important equipment.

ARC provides fun and relaxed monthly sessions in Stow Bridge Village Hall for people of all ages.

Now the group, which has 25 to 30 members aged between two and 50, is appealing for help to create a light and sensory room along with renovating a bathroom in a mobile classroom at the village hall.

Leaders Victoria and Matt Eldridge are hoping that people will get behind the bid by donating money they would have spent on a coffee or chocolate bar during Lent to the appeal via the YIMBY website.

Further fundraising events will be held in the future.

Mrs Eldridge said: “This group which serves a great need as there is little for people to go to with their families. It is important to the people who come.

“There is so much more we can do.”
