Engineer Mike Ford visits his old school, Downham Academy, to talk to pupils about his work on the Bloodhound SCC land speed record car.

An engineer who is hoping to smash the 1,000mph world land speed record explained the project to Downham Academy youngsters.

Mike Ford spoke to Year 7 pupils about his work with the Bloodhound Supersonic Car on Wednesday.

The Bloodhound is a jet and rocket powered car with a 135,000 horsepower engine.

The project, which was launched in October 2008, aims to inspire budding scientists and engineers while smashing the land speed record.
