Cancer sufferers and their carers can now find extra support and counselling at a monthly meeting held at Mr Bee’s Family Centre in North Lynn.
Hosted by St Augustine’s Centre in Columbia Way, the Cancer Support Group offers a safe space for individuals to talk about their experiences over a cup of tea. The group started 18 months ago and has seen a great response, but now counsellors are looking to reach out to more of those affected.
The Cancer Support Group, which is funded by Macmillan, meets at the centre on the first Monday of every month, unless it falls on a bank holiday.
The session runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and all are welcome to join, whether it is about their illness or about what they have been up to that week, counsellors promise a safe place to talk.
The sessions are run by three volunteer counsellors who ask that people wishing to attend should call the office first to let them know they are goming.
Call 01553 816908 to book in, or for more information about the support group.
Next session will take place on Monday and there is still time for anyone who would like to attend the session to call up and get involved.
