A team of volunteers from Swaffham helped to provide support in the aftermath of last week’s fatal helicopter crash on the north Norfolk coast.
Members of the area’s Rapid Relief Team took supplies of food and drink donated by supermarket managers to the crash site at Cley last Tuesday night and worked through the night, alongside members of the charity’s Norwich team, to provide drinks and snacks to the emergency and military personnel on the scene.
Group spokesman Jonathan Jackson paid tribute to managers at the Tesco stores in Dereham and Sheringham, who gave supplies.
“They really made a difference. At that time of night our options for buying food supplies were limited, but they were excellent.”
The team served the emergency crews until centre staff arrived the next morning.
The charity works alongside the emergency services to support them and others affected by major incidents.
