A former ambulance service boss has taken up a new role as the president of Swaffham’s Lions club.
Rod Goodwin took up the chains of office during a barbecue evening hosted by the club in the town’s community centre.
Mr Goodwin, who succeeds Simon Fowler as president, has been a club member since 2010, when he retired to the area at the end of a 32-year career in the ambulance service.
Having begun his career in Norfolk, he joined the Leicestershire service in 1993, where he later became a training manager.
He first joined the Lions while working in Leicestershire and joined the Swaffham club when he returned to Norfolk.
As well as his Lions commitments, Mr Goodwin is also a lay preacher at the town’s Baptist church.
