The work of the Merle Boddy Centre in Station Street, Swaffham, has been boosted by the proceeds of a garden party held by the town’s Lions club.

More than £650 was raised during the event hosted by club members Dennis and Pam Tallon in June.

The centre, which is run by the Swaffham and District Mental Health Association, provides care and support for people living with mental health problems and dementia.

Former club president Simon Fowler is pictured above presenting the cheque to the association’s chairman, Eddie Doran.

Elsewhere, members joined forces with their counterparts from Wymondham to help with the running of the annual Wayland Show at Watton on Sunday.

The Lions handed out Guardian Angel wristbands, which are aimed to help keep children safe if they become separated from their families.

The group also manned several of the entrances to the show field.
