Emergency services, volunteers and other agencies involved in responding to the huge tidal surge that hit West Norfolk were invited to a civic reception to thank them for their efforts.
Elizabeth Watson, West Norfolk Mayor, said: “It gave me very great pleasure to welcome to the Town Hall all the emergency service personnel who did such a brilliant job on the night of the exceptionally high tides in West Norfolk in December.
“We are all grateful for their professional approach to the impending disaster and impressed by the way that all sectors worked together in such a calm, efficient and compassionate way to ensure the safety of the residents and businesses. Our sincere thanks to all involved not only on that night, but in the clean-up operation which went on during the days and weeks afterwards.”
In total , 140 people from 11 agencies, were invited to the reception which took place in the Stone Hall at Lynn Town Hall.
