Three people have been killed in a crash on the A47 at East Winch this morning (Wednesday, March 26), police have confirmed.
A lorry and car collided on the A47 near the Carpenter’s Arms at around 11.15am.
Paramedics pronounced the three people, who were travelling in the car, dead at the scene. The lorry driver suffered minor injuries.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called at 11.18am today to a road traffic collision between a car and a lorry on the A47 near East Winch. We sent threes ambulances, an ambulance officer, two rapid response cars, and East Anglian Air Ambulance to the scene.
“Unfortunately despite the best efforts of all of the emergency services, three people were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
The A47 is closed between the Hardwick roundabout, Lynn, and Swaffham while a collision investigation gets underway and the vehicles are recovered. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
Two diversions are in place – large vehicles are advised to take the A10, A134 and A1122 to avoid the area. There is also a route for smaller vehicles set up via the A149 from King’s Lynn towards Hunstanton.
