Two nurses at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital have claimed the top two places in a national competition.

Michelle Porter, a tissue viability specialist nurse, has been named as Kerramax Care Nurse of the Year with her QEH colleague, senior podiatry nurse Dee Wadrup, selected as runner-up.

The two beat competition from hundreds of nurses across the country in the annual competition by submitting compelling ‘patient care’ case studies to Kerramax Care wound dressing manufacturers Crawford Healthcare.

The top prize of £3,000 was awarded to Michelle, who will be donating it to her department’s campaign to eliminate pressure ulcers – often known as bed sores – in the hospital. The £500 runners-up prize, awarded to Dee, will be going towards foot care for diabetic patients.
