Drivers using the Tuesday Market Place car park in Lynn will have a choice of five new ticket machines when an £1million makeover is completed next month.
Only half of the car park is in use at the moment, with just one ticket machine which is outside the Duke’s Head hotel.
There used to be 245 parking spaces on the market place but this will be reduced to 208 when the area is reopened, with outdoor dining areas, benches and large planters.
Of these spaces 13 will be disabled parking bays, along with 21 time-limited free spaces (two of which are disabled bays).
When work to create a cafe culture is complete there will be five new machines on the market place and one in the car parking area opposite The Globe hotel.
These will have integrated lighting at the top and illuminated key pads for customers to type in their car registration number to obtain a valid ticket.
Work on the Tuesday Market Place should be finished by the end of the first week in November, in time for the 28 November Christmas lights switch on event.
The car park is being resurfaced but some of the original cobblestones have been reused.
