A boys’ wax night and raffle has raised £1,000 towards the cost of a chemotherapy pump for the Macmillan centre at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The event took place last month at the Woolpack pub in Gaywood Road, Lynn, and six brave chaps had a combination of chests and legs waxed.

The organiser Darren Bailey had suffered a cancer scare earlier this year so he went ahead and organised the evening with wife Sharon. Pictured are those who participated in the evening handing over the money. Sharon and Darren are holding the cheque surrounded by fundraisers and supporters. Also pictured, back row Mackenzie Brown, Scott Elliot, Mike Hinton, Louis Pole. Middle, Darren, Lisa Perry and Sharon. Front row, Sue and Trevor Smith (who donated £200 to make the £1,000 total). Mr Bailey said: “It was a really good evening. Everyone was really up for it. We had lots of fun and there was a great atmosphere. I am hoping to do a 12-hour pool marathon next.”
