WEST LYNN: No crashes reported at notorious junction since slip road was closed

No accidents have been reported at a notorious West Lynn junction after a slip road was closed two months ago.

West Lynn Forum and Clenchwarton Parish Council are now calling for the slip road at the old A17 to be closed permanently.

No accidents have been reported to the either the forum or parish council since the cordons were placed on the South Lynn junction on Clenchwarton Road during October.

Norfolk County Council is closing the slip road for six months.

Parish council chairman Sue Cross said: “This tells us we don’t need the slip road.

“When it was open my phone was ringing red hot.”

West Lynn forum member Don Ely said residents calls to shut the slip road have been proved right.

He said: “We expect that the slip road will be shut permanently.

“It is surplus to requirements”

People living in West Lynn and Clenchwarton called for improvements after a series of accidents on the junction. The slip road was added to the junction 18 months ago.
