West Norfolk residents battened down the hatches and prepared for the worst storm to hit the country in decades on Sunday night, then woke up yesterday to find nothing much had happened.
The anticipated high winds didn’t materialise and the worst most residents had to contend with was driving through heavy rain and standing water, as pictured above as this van driver found when leaving Lynn’s Wootton Road and going into South Wootton Lane.
There was disruption to train services however, with no trains running into King’s Cross all day and only a service to Cambridge operating.
Norfolk Green buses operated as usual, with slight delays due to the amount of water on the roads, and the West Lynn to Lynn ferry operated as normal.
A Norfolk Green bus left the road and went through a fence on the A1067 at Foxley, near Dereham at around 7.55am. Seven people were treated at the scene with one passenger taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with minor head injuries.
