Children visiting libraries in West Norfolk this summer can expect to find a Mythical Maze to enjoy.

The Summer Reading Challenge is being run at all 47 libraries in Norfolk and this year the theme is Mythical Maze. Children between four and 11 who take part can choose and read any six books during the summer and receive stickers, Top Trump cards and a medal and certificate for completing the challenge. They can pick any kind of story or factual book including audio books. Last year more than 14,000 children took part throughout Norfolk. Staff at Downham and Lynn libraries will be dressing up in Mythical Maze-themed outfits.

A special summer mobile library specially decorated in the Mythical Maze theme will be visiting smaller libraries, with one calling in behind the Spar shop at RAF Marham on Mondays July 28, August 4 and August 11.

At Fakenham and Swaffham libraries an Arts Award Discover pack is available for £2.50 giving free entry to Gressenhall Rural Life Museum.

The Summer Reading Challenge is a national initiative run by The Reading Agency and was set up to help children keep up their standard of reading during the long summer break, as well as simply to read for fun.

To take part, children and parents can go along to any library now, and receive a Mythical Maze pack and be given information about events and activities planned over the summer.
