Police and council officials are urging people in the Swaffham area to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable residents in their neighbourhood in the current icy and snowy conditions.
Chief Inspector Paul Durham, Breckland’s policing commander, has askedHome Watch members to look out for elderly people in their streets, while the district council has special Warm Packs available to vulnerable residents.
He said: “Please help them to remain safe, not just from criminals but also make sure they have sufficient heating and provisions.”
Warm Packs contain vital items for colder weather, such as blankets, hot water bottles and gloves, and anyone who would benefit from one should phone 01362 656870.
Emergency heating oil, portable heater loans and low level home insulation are also available through the Warm and Well initiative, thanks to government funding secured by a partnership of councils and health and voluntary organisations.
