Yvonne and Eric Hollingdale celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at home in West Winch with their family.
Eric, from London, began work after the war in Watford and it was there that Yvonne, from Essex, also moved.
Their paths crossed at Stamford Hope cricket ground in 1950 where Eric was playing for his firm’s team.
Yvonne, who always worked in banking, was attending the game and they met on the bus journey home.
The couple were married in 1954 and moved to West Winch in 1991.
They have two sons, Richard and Timothy and two grand-daughters.
Yvonne said her mother-in-law gave them good advice when they married. She said: “Always kiss each other good night and don’t go to bed on a fight.”
Eric and Yvonne would advise newly weds to keep disagreements to a minimum.
Yvonne said: “it’s about give and take.”
