Plans to create a new woodland campsite business are being recommended for refusal by planning officials.
Dreamy Hollow Leisure wants to change a woodland area and former gravel pit between Monks Close and the B1445 in Bircham Newton into a new 12-pitch campsite, with a log cabin for warden accommodation.
The proposals are due to be discussed by West Norfolk Council’s planning committee on Monday.
In a report before the meeting, planners said they are not opposed to the idea in principle, accepting it would boost local tourism, but say on-site staff accommodation would breach policies designed to protect the countryside.
It also states that Norfolk County Council Highways has raised strong concerns about an increase in vehicles accessing the site from the busy B1454 Docking Road.
It says: “Given the high speed of vehicles in the vicinity, not only is the probability of an accident occurring unacceptably high, but the severity of any accident is also high.”
