There will be double centenary celebrations in Heacham this year, when First World War commemorations coincide with the 100th birthday of the Parish Church’s organ.

The large organ, which has 1,865 pipes, was commissioned in 1914, and to celebrate the parochial church council is planning a number of celebratory events.

The first is a choral performance of Maunder’s Olivet to Calvary , being held at the church on Saturday, April 12 at 7pm. Around 90 singers from local churches and groups will be taking part, but all singers are invited to join in. Rehearsals are in Heacham (March 15), Dersingham (March 22), Thornham (March 29) and Hunstanton (April 5), all between 6pm and 7pm. For more information contact church organist Adrian Flower on 01485 571102.
