Plans for a wind turbine at a pumping station near Downham are necessary to help reduce carbon emissions, developers say.
Proposals for the development at the station in Ten Mile Bank have been submitted to West Norfolk Council planning officials.
The application, which would see a turbine of 13 metres in diameter installed, has been submitted by GrandSam Investment on behalf of the Water Drainage Board.
Reports submitted to the council claim the development will help to increase the station’s self-sufficiency by producing electricity.
The plan would also reduce carbon emissions and energy bills, a design statement added.
