TERRINGTON ST CLEMENT: Offender fled but left fingerprint at scene of crime

A would-be thief got himself into a sticky situation at a cash machine in Terrington St Clement.

Magistrates in Lynn heard on Wednesday that Ionut Ciofu left his fingerprint on an adhesive strip he attached to the machine outside the Co-op store. He had hoped some of the money being withdrawn by customers would stick to the strip but drove off empty-handed after staff became suspicious and called the police.

Ciofu, 21, of Chingford, Essex, admitted attempted theft from a cash dispenser on August 8 last year. He was remanded in custody for sentence at Norwich Crown Court.
