The annual scarecrow and charter fayre took place on Saturday in celebration of the 670th anniversay of King Edward III’s granting of a charter for the residents of Magdalen, so they could hold a fayre for the anniversary of St Mary Magdalene.

This year, the fayre raised £1,200 for restoration work on the church.

The fayre had 36 stalls, including food and game stalls. The theme of the scarecrows this year was market traders which were placed all around the fate.

Organiser Alan Sherfield, pictured above right with Russell Chitty, said it went “extremely well” and was told by attenders that it had a “happy, friendly atmosphere”. MLNF16MF070139
