Manning North Lynn lofts in top form

The club’s second race was from Newbury when 16 members sent 297 birds and were released at 0930 hrs in a SW wind, writes Kevin Mason.

Two races gone and both went to the Manning boys from North Lynn, when their yearling took 1hr 44 mins to fly 115 miles. Both lots of pool money and the nom went to the Ellwood’s.

Result: 1 Manning Brothers & Son, 1947; 2 Pat and Julie Royle, 1944.7; 3 Bernie Byrne and Kim Peacock, 1944.6; 4, 5, 6 Peter and Dave Ellwood, 1942 (two birds) 1940.

Clenchwarton South also raced from Newbury, when seven lofts sent 133 birds. Rod and Gloria Ogden led the way when their bird took 1hr 37 mins to fly the 108 miles.

Clenchwarton North raced from Malton and were liberated in a SW wind at 0900 hrs, when six members sent 91 birds. The Heacham father and son partnership of Pete and Scott Garwood had a great race, taking the first three positions. Their winner took 2hrs 22 mins to fly 100 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3 Peter and Scott Garwood, 1243 1213 1212; 4, 6 Her Majesty the Queen, 1189 1186; 5 Wally and Sheila Collins, 1188.

Wereham had eight lofts send 117 birds to Newbury. Last season’s top racer Rodney Cochrane took the first three cards with his Belgium bloodlines birds. Rodney’s winner taking 1hr 36 mins to fly 105 miles.
