A vet is celebrating 25 years of caring for beloved pets in March
Craig Joly joined the Amical Veterinary Centre in High Street in 1990.
American born Mr Joly has become a cardiology specialist since arriving at the surgery.
He said: “I really enjoy being a clinician.
“I’m a bit like Sherlock Holmes as you have to work out what the underlying cause of the problem is.
“I use the cardiology training on a daily basis and it helps to pick up on things.
“An enjoyable aspect of being a vet is that you get to know the clients as well as the animals and enjoy seeing them.”
After leaving the navy, Mr Joly had ideas of working with horses.
But his late wife Robyn encouraged him to become a vet. And after more than five years of training he graduated in Glasgow.
He went onto work in Surrey and Norwich before arriving in March.
Since then he has seen the practice change.
Mr Joly said: “We have laboratory quality style equipment here now and the staff has grown. We now have five qualified veterinary nurses, which is amazing for a practice.
“I would like to thank the clients for their support over the years.
“I always try to make clients laugh – even in times of adversity.”
Mr Joly will be celebrating his milestone anniversary with colleagues at a restaurant.
