West Norfolk Mayor Colin Manning paid his own tribute to the nation’s war dead when he pinned a poppy to a special mural in Lynn’s town centre at the weekend.

The artwork has been set up in the Vancouver Quarter, where members of the town’s Royal British Legion branch are raising funds for the annual Poppy Appeal.

Organisers hope that the artwork will be completely covered with poppies ahead of the town’s Remembrance events next weekend.

Mr Manning is pictured above with his wife, Julie, placing the first poppies on the wall alongside Major Bill Kerr, chairman of Norfolk’s Royal British Legion.
