Members of the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn were given a special address by Megan Nurse, of North Wootton, who has recently attended a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) course.

Megan, who is pictured being greeted by the club president Bob Sharp, was sponsored to attend an RYLA course in September.

She told the club that it had been gruelling but had given her more confidence and in many ways had changed her attitude to life and the way that she dealt with things. She pointed out that had she been asked to give a talk to a room full of people before she attended, there is no way that she would have done it.

As it was, Megan spoke with confidence and humour, regailing members with some of the tasks she had undertaken which at times pushed her endurance to the limit.

Megan’s parents, Bridget and Mark, also attended the dinner meeting and thanked the club for what they had done for their daughter.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a leadership programme coordinated by Rotary clubs around the globe and each year thousands of young people take part.
