Wereham had their first race of 2015 from Bovingdon when six lofts sent 94 birds, and released in a NE wind at 1000 hrs, writes Kevin Mason.

Billy Mellett had his birds on top form in the club taking the first five positions and his winning Van Den Bosche took 1hr 48 mins to fly 78 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Billy Mellett with velocities of 1270, 1259, 1255, 1229 and 1216; 6 Jim and Wendy Cook & Paul King.

Clenchwarton (North) raced from Great Driffield when six members sent 82 birds and were liberated in a NE wind at 1200 hrs.

Last year’s top team of Wally and Sheila Collins won the first two cards, and took 1hr 53 mins to fly 92 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 4 Wally & Sheila Collins 1424, 1390 and 1299; 3 Ted and Sandra Scott 1363; 5 Pete & Scott Garwood 1242; 6 Her Majesty the Queen 1215.

Clenchwarton (South) had seven lofts send 143 birds to Bovingdon. Rod and Gloria Ogden & Sons led the way when their winner took 1hr 42 mins to fly 73 miles.

Result: 1, 5 Rod and Gloria Ogden & Sons 1253, 1177.4; 2, 4, 6 Peter and Dave Ellwood 1219, 1188, 1177.0; 3 Dale & Neil Dennis 1190.

New Lynn P.F.C. had 13 lofts send 235 birds to Bovingdon. The Manning Brothers & Son had the best bird in the club and took almost 1hr 57 mins to the 83 miles. This bird was well fancied by the Manning’s taking the first pools and the nom, 2nd pools going to Peter and Dave Ellwood.

Result: 1 Manning Brothers & Son 1246; 2, 3, 5 Pat and Julie Royle 1230 (two birds) and 1191.8; 4 Peter and Dave Ellwood 1211; 6 Chris and Leighton Boughen 1191.5.
