Watlington Players had been rehearsing for two months in preparation for their production of The Fantastic Fairground, which was staged at the village hall in January, 1986.
One of the founder members, Mrs Kate Carpenter, was the producer of the musical play which was a tale of adventure, mystery, ghosts and a disappearing necklace. Twelve-year-old Nicholas Carpenter, from Watlington, played the key role of a youngster who found himself in some unusual places looking for stolen black pearls. The Players were celebrating their tenth anniversary that year.
