This week we feature South Wootton Primary School with these happy children pictured in January, 1974.
When the school in Church Lane first opened in the spring of 1967 there were just 29 children – and in seven years the figure had reached 131 boys and girls.
The increased numbers meant that the school buildings had to be extended with two new classrooms being built.
The school was noted for its active Parent-Teacher Association which raised funds towards the provision of extra amenities for the children.
The head teacher was Miss D M Roberts who was assisted by five full and part-time teachers.
