West Winch Primary School junior pupils face the camera in February 1974.
The school had grown rapidly since it was built in 1962 with no less than three extensions as the village had become an important commuter area.
There were 300 children on the register, with 120 in the infants section and these 180 juniors. They were taught by a staff of nine under the guidance of head teacher Mr A W H Newby.
An important part of school life for many children was looking after rabbits and cavies in a special livestock section on the premises.
