Back in June, 1984, West Norfolk’s newest school was the Anthony Curton School at Walpole St Peter.

The octagonal-shaped building at Walpole Chase cost more than £300,000 and was nearing the end of its first full school year.

It had just been given an official VIP opening by Ruth, Lady Fermoy, grandmother of the Princess of Wales and founder president of the King’s Lynn Festival.

In the first of a two-part look at the school we feature the infant department, which included a ‘rising fives’ reception class and second and third year infant class. Mr Ray Borrell was the headmaster.
