A Methwold-based social group for adults with physical disabilities has put out a call for new members.

Lazy Days, started two years ago, when a council-run support service closed.

The group meets every Tuesday from 10am to 3pm at the Methwold village hall but membership is not restricted to the local area.

Gemma Liczbinski, adult care development worker for West Norfolk said: “If you have your own transport you are welcome to come wherever you live.

“And, if you are reliant on community transport please contact the group to see if anything can be arranged for you.”

The group goes on a day trip once a month and locations have included bowling, lunch, Hunstanton, the cinema, the theatre in Norwich and shopping in different parts of Norfolk.

Anne Greenacre who co-ordinates the group said: “We are more a social group than an old fashioned day centre and we decide what we would like to do.”

There are currently only eight members, the youngest is 18 and the oldest is 55 however there is no upper age limit.

Men are encouraged to attend as well as women and the group usually enjoys a hot lunch every Tuesday.

Ms Liczbinski said: “Without the group people would be isolated it provides a place where people can socialise and support each other.”

It is open to anybody with physical disabilities and the fees range from £15 to £55 a week depending on the level of care required.

Ms Greenacre said: “To anybody who is thinking about joining come along and we will give you a warm welcome, have a coffee with us and a chat”
