On Saturday Henry Bellingham MP visited the Foodbank in Hunstanton and learned about the work of the Trussell Trust in a rural location.
Covering an area around Hunstanton, Heacham, along the coast to the Burnhams and inland to Dersingham the Hunstanton has different challenges from foodbanks in urban areas where access via public transport is easier.
He also heard about the challenges that people face managing their household budgets, particularly those on zero hours contracts, and how the Foodbank is able to help by fulfilling the immediate need and signposting to agencies that can offer long-term help.
Mr Bellingham said: I’d like to pay tribute to the local churches who lead this project and to the indefatigable locals who are providing a fantastic service providing food for those in need.”
