MP says he has been in every pub in North-West Norfolk

Glasses of ‘Wash and Tope Tipple’ were served to Sir Henry Bellingham and guests at theBest of British launch of the refurbished Wash and Tope in Hunstanton on Friday.

Congratulating Enterprise Inns and the Lifeboat Pub Company, Sir Henry said: “Thank you for investing in Hunstanton.

“Today is a chance to celebrate the half a million pounds of investment by your two companies. I have been to every pub in the constituency and what you have achieved here is fantastic, it shows foresight, innovation and is a great vote of confidence in the town.”

Taster plates of the Best of British specialities that will feature on the Wash and Tope menu were served by the team, that is headed up by managers Lorry and Phil, who confirmed that staff numbers will shortly rise to 25.

The management is keen to support town events and participation in this year’s Hunstanton Carnival themed ‘Best of British’ is being planned by the pub with a float featuring Dad’s Army.

Sir Henry said: “Hunstanton has so much to offer and in my opinion it could become the best British Victorian resort; businesses here are setting high standards, many have achieved awards in the last couple of years and I have seen the dedication and aspiration businesses here have to be the best.”
