A network of First World War practice trenches at a camp site near Bircham Newton could soon be giving up their secrets after survey work has begun.
Landowners Nigel Day and Jonathan Burr are hoping to learn more about the trenches at Dreamy Hollow Campsite.
Mr Day and four helpers, under the guidance of the historical environment service at Gressenhall, have now begun the difficult task of surveying the whole of 3.5 acre site using tape measures.
It is hoped that an archeological dig will be held next year.
The survey, which started earlier this month, has already highlighted an area for further investigation.
Mr Day believes he has found what could be a command post and hopes it will be included in the archaeological dig.
