A new appeal for information about the disappearance of a Downham man has been issued today, exactly three months after he was last seen.

Specialist teams have searched the Denver Sluice as part of the inquiry into the whereabouts of Barry Birch, while posters have been displayed around the town.

Mr Birch, 44, was last seen near his home in James Scott Close in the early hours of Saturday, December 28.

Det Insp Marie James, who is leading the investigation, said no evidence has been found so far to suggest his disappearance was suspicious.

But she added: “Barry’s family are desperate to hear from him so they know he is safe and I would ask anyone with any information about where Barry may be now to come forward.”

Mr Birch is white, slim and five feet eight inches tall with hazel eyes and short, light brown hair. He is believed to have been wearing a dark duffle coat.

He is known to have health concerns and has missed several medical appointments.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
