Businesses have agreed to work together to create improvements in Lynn town centre.

Members of the Lynn Town Centre Partnership has agreed to form a sub group of businesses during its last meeting in West Norfolk Council offices on Tuesday.

This group has been set up after Lynn’s Businesses Improvement District steering committee decided to disbanded after the narrow loss of the vote on April 11.

Shops and businesses would have been asked to pay a levy on top of their business rates to fund improvements in the town centre.

Initially 54 per cent businesses had voted in favour of the scheme but it was lost on the secondary count which was based on rateable value

One of those involved in the new sub group is Jess Cunningham.

She said the committee was still at an early stage but would welcome ideas from businesses in the town.

She said: “People still want to do something but it is finding a way in which we can do that given the fact that there is no money to make that happen.

“We want people who want to do something.

“We want to move forward and make things happen.

“If people have ideas they want to put forward we would be happy to hear them.”
