RAF Marham welcomed a new Station Commander this week as Air Commodore Harvey Smyth handed over command of the base to Group Captain Rich Davies. Group Captain Davies is no stranger to RAF Marham as he has previously served here with 31 Squadron, a Squadron that his grandfather had served with during World War Two. With the symbolic handing over of the RAF Marham Silver Bull, Group Capt Davies said “ It is a great privilege to take command of RAF Marham especially at such a busy time. Having spent my career flying the Tornado, to return and command the RAF’s last remaining front line Tornado Station is a great honour. Looking to the future, we have exciting times ahead as RAF Marham starts its preparation to welcome the new Lightning II aircraft. My family and I are really pleased to be back in this lovely part of the country and we are looking forward to getting out and about into the local community”
Air Commodore Harvey Smyth has taken over as the Tornado Force Commander and Lightning Commander so will continue to have strong links with the base.
