Just fantastic! That was the verdict of the Give It A Go Girls Women’s Institute on their first ever Christmas fayre, held on Saturday.
The WI offered a range of baked goods donated to the event, held at its base in Providence Street Community Centre in Lynn, along with some home-made crafts and games for visitors and their children to enjoy.
Members were very generous with their time organising the event and also the donations made.
Father Christmas and Buddy the Elf greeted the young children in the Christmas grotto.
Hayley Culham, president of the WI branch, said: “It was so great seeing the children smiling and having fun and getting in the festive spirit”.
She added: “So many people have worked incredibly hard to put together our first Christmas fayre and it was fantastic to see the community enjoying their efforts that were made.
“There were a range of crafts and lots of our members gave things a go for the first time, including making mince pies – which were absolutely delicious!
“Our group welcomes anyone who is prepared to ‘Give It A Go’ and enjoy each other’s company while having a laugh together.
“A big thank you to everyone involved, and of course Buddy the Elf and Father Christmas for sparing the time to visit us, at the busiest time of the year!.
“All in all a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by many members of the local community and the WI.”
The organsisers hope to continue their brilliant success this time next year too.
The group always meet at 7.30pm on the second Monday of each month at Providence Street community centre.
The meeting on January 12 will involve a talk by a representative from the airbase at RAF Marham.
This will be followed in February by a mock trial at the court.
Mrs Culham said: “Pop along if you want to try something new and meet some great people.”
