The annual Gardening 4 Health allotment open day on Tuesday was once again blessed with sunny weather.

The event provides the opportunity for the community to visit the award-winning project off Front Way, North Lynn, enjoy a tour, refreshments, entertainment and games and also find out about the allotment and support packages available through the mental health charity Mind.

A record 100-plus visitors made the event a great success.

Zena Penty, West Norfolk Mind volunteer co-ordinator said it had enjoyed a fabulous atmosphere and added: “Our Gardening 4 Health open day is always a popular event, a chance to unwind, have fun and find what’s on offer.”

Since starting in 2007, more than 300 people have achieved great benefit via the project. It has developed a sense of purpose and meaning in people’s lives, increasing levels of physical activity, and creating opportunities for people to meet in a safe environment. The project has also enabled many people to acquire new skills. Photo: mlnf14am07006
