A man has appeared in court accused of raping a teenage girl in an attack which is alleged to have taken place 10 years ago.

Ihsan Ayas, 46, of Frederick Close, North Wootton, appeared before magistrates in Lynn for the first time on Friday to hear the charges against him.

He faces one count of raping a girl aged between 13 and 15 and two allegations of sexual assault on a girl of a similar age.

He is also accused of a fourth charge of inciting a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity.

All of the alleged offences are said to have taken place in Lynn over an eight month period between May 24, 2004 and February 1, 2005.

Ayas, who was not asked to enter a plea, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during the brief hearing.

Magistrates adjourned the case for Ayas to appear before Norwich Crown Court on December 19.

He was released on conditional bail until that date.
