A Lynn family will jet off on holiday today after the last-minute arrival of travel documents ended their passport nightmare.
As reported in the Lynn News on Tuesday, Emma Stewart and her family were one of thousands caught up in a national backlog of passport renewals and applications.
The mum-of-two, of Tennyson Avenue, feared the fiasco would put their summer getaway to Italy at risk and leave them unable to leave the UK.
But yesterday Mrs Stewart, husband Mark and daughters Lily, 5, and Rose, 3, were packing their suitcases in preparation, after Lily’s new passport arrived just in time.
She said: “We’re absolutely delighted. It was definitely worth all the hard work in contacting the Passport Office and making the newspapers aware of what was happening.
“The girls are so excited now, we can’t wait to get there.”
The anxious wait for passports is also over for Sandra Hohol and her family, from Hunstanton, after their travel documents arrived early yesterday morning – just hours before their holiday to Disneyland Paris tomorrow.
Mrs Hohol had applied for family passports back in April, and made repeated calls to the Passport Office when they failed to arrive.
She took to Facebook and Twitter to highlight her family’s plight, and North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham stepped in to help.
