A Saturday church service with a difference saw animals, both great and small, joining the congregation.

Dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits were among the worshippers at Lynn Minster, on Saturday.

More than 50 people attended the service, with around 20 bringing their pets.

Among the congregation was Daisy Goodrum, 8, with her kitten Bryan.

The service was the idea of the Reverend Laura Baker and children who didn’t have pets were invited to bring along a soft toy.

The Reverend Baker said: “I had the idea for a pets service when I got my little Yorkshire terrier puppy Finlay a year ago.

“He is a huge part of my life and part of the family and I realise how important and precious pets are to us.

“I organised the service to celebrate the part they play in our lives because we all them so much - and so does God.”

All of the animals were blessed by name at the alter and during the blessing the Vicar of Dibley theme was played.
