Air quality on a ward in Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital could be improved for patients and staff if new plans are approved.

The hospital has applied to install an air handling unit and glass reinforced plastic enclosure on West Newton ward as part of refurbishment work.

The planning application, which was lodged with West Norfolk Council on April 9, states that the handling unit will remove “impurities and germs” from the air.

The application states: “The purity and condition of the air could have detrimental effects to the patients if it has not been handled and filtered correctly.

“If this air handling unit is granted permission, this with help the lives of unwell patients to get pure clean air in hope to get better.”
