Plans submitted for Hunstanton’s historic lighthouse

Plans have been submitted for internal alternations to Hunstanton’s historic Lighthouse.

Mr D Lloyd has applied to West Norfolk Council to alter the cottage attached to the Lighthouse in Lighthouse Close.

He wants to alter the
internal layout of the cottage in a bid to create an open plan kitchen, dining and
living room.

It is also proposed to install a new balcony area and external spiral staircase.

The application’s heritage statement said: “The proposal is part of the efforts being made to not only retain a Grade II-listed lighthouse by preventing further deterioration to the existing fabric but to also modify the property further to careful consideration stated in the submitted report and drawings.”

The application is looking to move the kitchen and living areas to the first floor with bedrooms on the ground floor. It is hoped to create a balcony off this area.

The Lighthouse tower
will not be affected by the
proposal.
