Players get kit off to raise £500

RUGBY club members raised £500 for the Lynn News Special Care Baby Appeal by getting their kit off – then presented the cheque in the same humour.

The donation came from sales of a cheeky calendar produced by West Norfolk Rugby Club to boost its own and the appeal funds.

The club was inspired to do its bit for the appeal after player Alex Singleton's baby daughter Ava was born prematurely and cared for by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The appeal aims to raise 150,000 for a vital revamp and expansion of the unit. Hitting the total will ensure more babies can be cared for close to home and create a much-needed second overnight room for parents.

The rugby club calendar also raised 500 for the club.

If you're planning an event in aid of the Special Care Baby Appeal contact co-ordinator Louise Brain on 01553 817320 or louise.brain@ lynnnews.co.uk and we'll guarantee you publicity.
