A father and son appeared in court today charged in connection with a violent brawl in South Wootton.

James Harris, a serving police officer in London, and his father Derek Harris, appeared before Lynn Magistrates’ Court to face charges relating to an alleged attack on two brothers, Andrew and Nicholas Milnes, in St Augustine’s Way, North Lynn, on August 22.

James Harris, 38, of Addiscombe Grove, Croydon, Surrey, faces a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Andrew Milnes, after allegedly punching him in the face and fracturing his nose.

Derek Harris, 69, of St Benets Grove, South Wootton, is accused of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place during the incident, namely an iron bar, and assaulting against each brother.

Both men declined to indicate any pleas.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction and adjourned the case until January 5 for a hearing at Norwich Crown Court.

Both men were released on conditional bail until then.
