Power cuts have forced a number of shops in Lynn’s town centre to close today (Wednesday, January 7).

Some shops in the Norfolk Street and High Street area have left notes on their doors stating the closure has been down to the power failure.

UK Power Networks is dealing with the fault.

A statement says: “UK Power Networks were alerted at 8.38am today (Wednesday) to a power cut affecting nine properties in High Street and Norfolk Street following a fault on an underground cable. Engineers are working to restore the electricity supplies as quickly and as safely as possible. We do understand how difficult it can be to be without power would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Mr Simm’s Ye Olde Sweet Shop, Ernest Jones along with the Thomas Cook store have closed.

Not all the shops in Norfolk Street and High Street have been affected and remain open
