The Queen has arrived in West Norfolk today for the start of her annual Christmas break on the Sandringham estate.

The 89-year-old monarch was accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh when she arrived in Lynn at around lunchtime, having travelled by train from on a scheduled Great Northern service from London Kings Cross.

The couple were then driven to the estate, where the Queen traditionally stays until after Accession Day in early February.

Dozens of her family will join her over the next few days to celebrate the festive season and hundreds of wellwishers are expected to greet the Royal Family after the traditional Christmas Day church service next week.
